After weeks of thrilling matches and exciting ties, Wimbledon 2025 came to an end on Sunday with Jannik Sinner winning the men’s title. Iga Swiatek, on the other hand, took another stride in greatness on Saturday when she won the women’s championship.
Swiatek, who is known to many as the ‘Queen of Clay’, was not on the radar of many to win Wimbledon at the start of the tournament. However, she surprised the tennis world, including herself, by going all the way to the final where she thrashed American 13th seed Amanda Anisimova 6-0 6-0 in 57 minutes to win her first Wimbledon.

Swiatek became known as the ‘Queen of Clay’ after claiming four French Open titles in five years and also winning the US Open three years ago. On Saturday, she added Wimbledon to her list of Grand Slams, reminding fans why she was the number one ranked female tennis player for two years before losing the top spot to Aryna Sabalenka last year.

The Pole’s form had dipped in the past one year and she had not reached a single final since her triumph at the 2024 French Open. As a result, she had dropped in the WTA rankings to eighth, which is her lowest ranking since early 2022.

World number one Jannik Sinner was without a doubt one of the players to watch in this year’s Wimbledon. The man from the mountains in northern Italy was outstanding throughout the tournament and showcased his brilliance in the semi-final where he thrashed the legendary Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
Fast forward to Sunday, a composed and clinical Sinner stood tall against Alcaraz beating him 4-6 6-4 6-4 6-4 to win his maiden Wimbledon title and fourth Grand Slam. The Italian lost the first set but bounced back in the second and went on to win the other two and claim his first major not on a hard court. His victory stopped Alcaraz from becoming only the fifth man in the Open era to win three consecutive Wimbledon titles.

Wimbledon 2025 final was a rematch of the French Open which took place 36 days ago and ended in victory for Alcaraz. Sinner led in the first two sets but Alcaraz roared back in an amazing fashion to win the clash after five hours.

Sinner and the Spaniard Alcaraz have created an amazing rivalry in the men’s tennis for the past two years. And as things stand, there’s no doubt that they have replaced the iconic trio of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in the men’s game.
