Jannik Sinner French Open loss to Carlos Alcaraz will take time to sink in, he admits.
The world No.1 Italian tennis star lost the 2025 French Open take Alcaraz on Sunday in a riveting final at the Philippe-Chatrier Court at Roland Garros.
There were moments when it seemed like Sinner would win a third Grand Slam, but Alcaraz thwarted every move he made, inching closer to winning the second major slam of the year.
Life After Jannik Sinner French Open Loss
Five-and-a-half hours after a historic final at Roland Garros, Jannik Sinner French Open loss has cost him sleep.
Speaking recently, he said that it was the most trying Grand Slam final he has played in his tennis career so far.
Alcaraz won 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(10-2), enough to deny him sleepless nights.
He said that his family is his recourse after such a big loss. Sinner doesn’t mind taking from his family at times when he needs them, just like they take from him sometimes.
Sinner also clarified that his father, Johann Sinner, couldn’t make it to the French Open final because of prior work commitments.

However, he was elated that his mum, Siglinde made it to Paris to support Sinner.
She was calmly seated on the stand watching her son chase a fourth Grand Slam title. Hid father followed the match on TV.
Sinner said that it hurt him a lot that he lost the match but he had to collect himself and focus on the next matches lined up in the ATP Tour.
Still, it was a big fete for him to play at Roland Garros because he never imagined that he would even play such a daunting final on a clay court.
How Alcaraz Won 2025 French Open
Despite Jannik Sinner French Open loss, Alcaraz praised him, saying he is the most formidable opponent he has played against in his tennis career.
The duo made history by playing for over six hours, each set having a tiebreaker. The world No. 1 appeared poised to claim his fourth consecutive Grand Slam title, asserting dominance early on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
He secured a two-set lead against the reigning champion and second seed. However, Alcaraz mounted a strong comeback, taking the third set.
Despite this, Sinner found his rhythm in the fourth and earned three match points on Alcaraz’s serve at 5-3, only for the Spaniard to miraculously save them all.
Serving for both the match and the French Open trophy at 5-4, Sinner was unable to close it out as Alcaraz broke his serve and fought back to claim the fourth set.

The dramatic encounter culminated in tie-break victories, with Alcaraz securing an astonishing 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(10-2) triumph.
Alcaraz struck first in the fifth game, finally capitalising on his seventh break point to take the lead.
However, Sinner responded immediately with a break of his own. Moments later, Alcaraz was forced to pause the match after appearing to get something in his eye.
When he resumed play, still visibly bothered, his rhythm seemed off. Within just a few minutes, he was broken again, and Sinner secured the opening set.
The second set followed a similar script. Alcaraz quickly fell behind 4-1, his erratic shot-making standing in stark contrast to Sinner’s consistent precision.
Though Alcaraz managed to rally and push the set to a tiebreak, it wasn’t enough. He now faced a challenge he had never overcome: coming back from two sets down in a Grand Slam match.
When Alcaraz dropped his serve in the opening game of the third set, hopes of a comeback looked slim.
But in under 15 minutes, he flipped the script, breaking Sinner twice to surge ahead 3-1.
