French tennis player Lois Boisson is inspiring many tennis players due to her ability to keep negativity out of her way.

Recently, British tennis player Harriet Dart was criticised for her behaviour, which left many tennis fans dismayed.

Dart couldn’t handle losing to the world No.361 player at the Rouen Open, a clay-court WTA 250 tournament.

She lost 6-0, 6-3 to the French woman and wouldn’t handle it. Dart was heard telling the umpire over a microphone that Boisson should wear deodorant because she doesn’t ‘smell good’ at all.

As hurtful as it was, the French player stayed quiet as tennis fans roasted Dart on social media, forcing her to apologise.

She posted an apology on her Instagram page saying that she erred in making such statements.

The Brit added that she deeply respected Lois Boisson as a player. Boisson, as if accepting the apology, cheekily posted an image of Dove deodorant on her Instagram page and tagged the company.

Boisson, 22, made headlines at the 2025 French Open after knocking out American tennis player Jessica Pegula in the fourth round.

Pegula, ranked world No.3, could take a two-set beating from the world No.361 player. She came from a first-set loss to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Lois Boisson became the lowest-ranked player to play in Roland Garros since 2018 when Serena Williams played as world No. 451.

Williams had been away from the tennis courts after the birth of her firstborn daughter, Olympia Ohanian.

The 22-year-old got a wild card and sailed through to the French Open quarter-finals. She broke a 17-year history with her quarter-final run on her first attempt at Roland Garros since the days of Carla Suarez.

Suarez was the only other WTA player to manage a round of 16 appearance on her French Open debut. She will play against Mirra Amdreeva in her debut French Open quarter-finals on Wednesday.

When Did Lois Boisson Start Playing Tennis?

Lois Boisson made her WTA Tour debut in 2021, playing at the Lyon Open on a wildcard. Her highest WTA ranking was world No.152 in May 2024 when she won her maiden WTA 125 title in Saint-Malo.

Born in Dijon, France, she grew up a tennis lover.  She spent most of her free time playing tennis and got a spot to further her talent on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) circuit, where she won 18 matches in a row.

Battle With Injury

With an impressive world No. 152 WTA ranking, Lois Boisson had hoped to make her French Open debut in May 2024 but suffered an ACL injury a week before the start of the second major Grand Slam in Paris.

The injury put her out of action for the rest of the 2024 season and the start of the WTA Tour 2025 season. She underwent an intensive meniscus and ACL injury, and the healing process drained her mentally.

She described the 2024 season as a rollercoaster, saying that it turned out to be everything she had hoped it wouldn’t in January 2024.

Her focus was on making her French Open debut. It was a long-held dream that grew bigger in 2021 when she became a professional tennis player on the WTA Tour.

In one of her Instagram posts while recovering from the ACL injury, Boisson recalled that she had so much hope that season after winning her maiden WTA 125 title.

She recalled the joy of winning this title and how she collapsed on the floor in celebration of her victory.

Incidentally, she would suffer the same fate of collapsing a week later and not in celebration this time around. But out of pain after picking an ACL injury and her knee couldn’t hold her weight anymore.

She said that it she never imagined that she would be out for nine months but was hopeful of making a full recovery.

Boisson returned to the Tour at the end of February 2025 and performed well at Elise Mertens before her stunning performance at the French Open against Pegula.
