The Pole became a people’s darling due to her stunning tennis performance. Little did she know that this love came with untold pressure that tested her mental resilience two seasons later.
A lot happened in just two seasons, but she never gave up her dreams despite the immense pressure she was under.
Iga Swiatek Mental Health Status
The six-time Grand Slam winner has had difficult moments in her tennis career that spilt out of the hard, grass and clay courts.
The controversial doping saga raised questions about Iga Swiatek mental health. Her performance plummeted sharply.

Swiatek tested positive for a banned substance, trimetazidine (TMZ), in August 2024, shortly after winning the 2024 French Open.
TMZ is a pharmaceutical drug used to treat angina, a heart-related illness.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) banned her provisionally until the case was heard and determined.
ITIA handed her a one-month tennis ban, which she only served for a week since she had served a three-week ban during the provisional ban.
Lost Prize Money
However, loss of points and prize money negatively impacted Iga Swiatek mental health. She lost $158,944 in prize money and 390 ranking points that she had amassed from the Cincinnati Open.

Swiatek admitted that she inadvertently took TMZ through a melatonin supplement that was contaminated. She intended to cure her jet lag and insomnia.
Criticisms that followed ITIA’s decision to ban her for one month dealt a huge blow to her mental wellness. A section of tennis fans and commentators attacked her online, accusing ITIA of bias.
They questioned why other players, such as Simona Halep (retired) were slapped with an 18-month tennis ban when she tested positive for doping, and explained that it was all unintentional, just like Swiatek.
As if all this stress wasn’t enough, the 24-year-old lost her grandfather this same year, and it affected her greatly.
Is Iga Swiatek Stressed?
She maintains that her difficult moments in the past have challenged her, but she was never depressed as sections of the media reported.
Speaking to TVA Sports shortly after winning the 2025 Wimbledon, she said ‘depression’ is far from Iga Swiatek mental health worries.
She fingered Polish media for propagating these claims, noting that they intended to get more clicks.
While terming it all ‘a misconception,’ Swiatek noted that her meltdowns after some matches go wrong shouldn’t mean that she is depressed.
Swiatek asked Polish media to tone down their rhetoric about her tennis skills, saying that media from her own country don’t treat her well. She said it was all evident after Wimbledon, where, despite winning her first grass court slam, the media still poked holes into her skills.
