Update on Mohammed Kudus transfer: After lengthy talks and initial rejection of a £50 million bid for Kudus, West Ham has finally agreed to a £55 million offer by Tottenham Hotspur.

His transfer had hit a snag earlier this week after the club turned down a £50 million bid from Tottenham Hotspur for the Ghanaian forward.

The Spurs are intentional about holding out for a higher fee as transfer interest grows. This Premier League club is garnering interest on the transfer table following its Europa League victory in the 2024-25 season.

Spurs beat Manchester United to win their first-ever European Cup.  This booked them a slot in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.

Why Did Tottenham Reject Mohammed Kudus Transfer?

Insider sources suggest that West Ham rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer of Mohammed Kudus due to the Europa League Champions’ ‘low transfer fee’.

The team insists that any club eyeing Kudus must meet his market value, which Spurs’ £50 million is far from.

Kudus, 24, has emerged as a key player for the Hammers since arriving from Ajax in a £38 million deal in 2023.

His current contract runs until 2028 and includes an £85 million release clause, an amount Spurs were hoping to bypass with their initial offer.

However, West Ham deemed the bid too low, falling short by £35 million. With more clubs expected to table offers in the coming weeks, the East London club is likely to wait for the best possible deal.

Tottenham’s interest comes on the back of their Europa League triumph, which secured them a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Kudus is reportedly keen on playing at the highest level of European football, and Spurs’ Champions League qualification makes them an attractive option.

Is Kudus Willing to Leave West Ham?

Well-placed sources have told BBC Sport that Kudus is prioritising a move to a Champions League club this summer. However, the rejection of Spurs’ opening bid indicates that West Ham are prepared to drive a hard bargain.

Unless a club is willing to meet the full release clause or make an offer close to it, Kudus may remain at West Ham for another season.

While Chelsea had previously made contact regarding a potential deal, a move to Stamford Bridge now appears unlikely. Manchester United, Newcastle, and three other top European clubs are also believed to be monitoring his situation.

Despite the player’s openness to leaving the London Stadium, West Ham are not in a rush to see through Mohammed Kudus transfer.

West Ham’s stance on the Mohammed Kudus transfer to Tottenham reveals his market value and their plans for the upcoming season under new manager Graham Potter.

The 2025/26 campaign marks Potter’s first full season in charge, and he is expected to oversee a major rebuild. The proceeds from a potential Kudus sale could play a critical role in funding incoming transfers.

Kudus made an instant impact in the Premier League with his attacking.

He has made more than 65 league appearances for West Ham, with a total of 13 goals and nine assists. These statistics are believed to be stirring interest among football clubs across Europe.
