Gor Mahia FC has axed its coaches Zedekiah Otieno alias Ziko and Michael Nam following its dismal performance this season and its loss in the Nairobi United Cup.
Ziko and Nam served as the club’s interim coaches following the exit of its head coach Sinisa Mihic, in May 2025.
Mihic left the club on ‘mutual agreement’, forcing his assistant coaches to take over his coaching duties.
It wasn’t clear why Mihic left the club before the end of his tenure, but insider reports suggest that he was at loggerheads with the management over the team’s poor performance in the 2024-25 season.
Gor also sacked the entire technical and operational staff.
Why Did Gor Mahia Fire Coaches and Technical Staff?
In a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday, signed by K’Ogalo chairman Ambrose Rachier, the move was necessary for Gor as it prepares for the 2025-26 FKF-PL season.
Rachier said this was a ‘broader restructuring process’ for Gor Mahia FC informed by an internal review.
“This decision follows a comprehensive internal review and is part of the Club’s broader restructuring process aimed at strengthening its technical and operational capacity in preparation for the upcoming 2025/26 season,” read part of the statement.
The K’ogalo chairman added that the changes were reached amicably between the club and the affected parties.
“The separation has been reached amicably and in good faith, with the Club recognizing and appreciating the contributions made by the outgoing staff, we extend our sincere gratitude to the individuals involved for their commitment, professionalism, and service to the Club during their tenure.

Gor Mahia FC
As we begin a new chapter, Gor Mahia FC remains committed to building a solid foundation that will support competitive excellence both on and off the pitch.”
Disappointing 2024-25 Season
Gor Mahia FC had a disappointing season where they finished fourth on the Kenya Premier League table with 55 points from 32 matches played.
They failed to defend their FKF-PL title which went to Kenya Police FC. It was the first time that Police FC won this coveted title since its formation in 2014.
K’Ogalo attributed this loss to its coaching, operational and technical staff. Rachier, who is serving his last term in office pledged to bring radical changes to the team and restore its glory.

Rachier is hellbent on bringing in a new technical bench for the next season to help the club reclaim its lost glory. Gor Mahia’s secretary-general Niconar Arum, in April put on notice foreign players in the club who were underperforming.
He said that together with other club officials, they vowed to transform Gor Mahia FC in the next four years. However, this remains impossible with a few underperforming players from other countries.
