Gor Mahia FC chairman-elect Ambrose Rachier has shared his long-term plan for the Kenyan Premier League club.
Rachier said that his main priority is taking the club to a higher level. He spoke on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium after successfully defending his chairmanship in the recently-concluded elections.
The long-serving Gor Mahia chairman remarked that his focus is on elevating K’Ogalo together with the newly elected club officials.
How Did Ambrose Rachier Retain Chairmanship of Gor Mahia?
Rachier successfully defended his seat in the April 13 club elections overseen by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
He got 650 votes, elbowing out his competitor Dolphna Odhiambo, who garnered 456 votes. Odhiambo served as the club’s treasurer before throwing his hat in the ring in an attempt to oust Ambrose Rachier.

Gichu Wahome led the IEBC team that conducted general elections for Gor Mahia. The club’s chairman lauded the IEBC team for conducting a transparent and organised poll.
He aims to unite everyone, including fans from opposing camps still within K’Ogalo. Fans of the club supporting different candidates in the polls caused a scuffle during the April 13 general election,s forcing police to disperse them by lobbing tear gas canisters.
He believes that this unity will take the team to the next level in terms of internal and external club support.
Rachier said that if he failed to bring harmony, it would be a bad image as a long-serving Gor Mahia chair.
Other Elected Gor Mahia Officials
Sally Bolo will serve as Gor Mahia’s vice-chairperson. Bolo, who once served as K’Ogalo’s treasurer, beat Victor Mbaka to win the club’s VP post.
He garnered 610 votes, while Mbaka got 488 votes. Nick Arum won the Secretary General’s seat, garnering 610 votes. His competitor Sam Ocholla got 501 votes, losing the seat to Arum.
Ocholla has served as K’Ogalo’s secretary-general since 2021. Joseph Ogidi, who had expressed in the SG post and campaigned for weeks, pulled out of the race on Friday, leaving Ocholla and Arum to battle it out.
Ogidi cited ‘personal reasons’ in his decision to withdraw from the race. Meanwhile, Gerphas Ogolla is the club’s new treasurer after garnering 559 votes against Philip Nyakwana’s 524 votes.
