Career
Like many other top NBA stars, Karl Malone started playing basketball while in high school. He played a significant role as his high school team clinched three consecutive Louisiana Class C titles from 1979 to 1981. He continued to play basketball in college after being enrolled at Louisiana Tech University.
Malone was drafted into the NBA in 1985 and was picked 13th overall by the Utah Jazz. He earned his first All-Star selection in 1988 and was picked again the following year, clinching the All-Star Game MVP for the first time in his second appearance.
Malone continued to impress during his time with the Jazz and went on to collect several individual honours. The power forward clinched his first NBA MVP in 1997 and was again crowned MVP the following year. He spent his last years in the NBA playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
