Kirill Kaprizov started playing ice hockey when he was a four-year-old boy. He travelled daily from his village to downtown Novokuzentsk in order to train with other young boys. As a junior, he played for the Metallurg Novokuznetsk and also had a spell with the Kuznetskie Medvedi junior team.

Kaprizov made his senior debut during the 2014-15 season playing for the Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the Kontinental Hockey League.

On May 2, 2016, the Metallurg Novokuznetsk traded Kaprizov to Salavat Yulaev Ufa. He spent a season with the club and then continued with his career at CSKA Moscow in 2017.

The winger’s dream of playing in the NHL eventually became a reality when he was signed by the Minnesota Wild.
