It was with the Youngstown Phantoms that he made a name for himself and caught the attention of NHL clubs. His performance during the 2013-14 season earned him a spot in the USHL First All-Star Team. He led the league in scoring during the 2014-15 campaign, winning the USHL Forward of the Year and Player of the Year.
