  • Vincenzo Italiano is the man bending every rule in the Serie A
  • He was embroiled in controversy over a k1ss to a Sky Sports journalist
  • Bologna sits seventh in the Serie standings

Vincenzo Italiano is the man bending every rule in the Serie A with his team Bologna this season. His managerial skills leave many people questioning whether he is a madman or a genius.

Bologna sits seventh on the Serie standings so far in the 2024/25 season. However, the team is lethally oppressive to its opponents, thanks to its manager Italiano. His tactics on ball possession are aggressive, but often have a domino effect for Bologna.

Still, they sit below the top five. Italiano still insists that they will finish among the top four this season, even as he focuses on Coppa Italia final.

Who is Vincenzo Italiano?

Vincenzo Italiano is a German-born football manager and retired footballer. Some people mistake him for an Italian because of his long stay in Serie A and his name ‘Italiano’.

He was born in Karlsruhe, West Germany, on December 10, 1977. Italy is his second home; it’s the place where he started his football career.

Italiano played for Trapani before joining Hellas Verona where he played for the longest in Serie A at only 19. The Bologna manager loved Verona to a fault so much that he did not leave the team when it was relegated to Serie B in 1997.

Verona lost 6-1 in an away defeat to Bologna, earning it a ticket to relegation. Undeterred, he worked hard together with his teammates to return to Serie A in 1998. He left Verona in 2005 for Genoa, where he played for one season, and returned to Verona in 2006.

Serie A talk about some of the best midfielders has Vincenzo Italiano in it. His ball passing range and tackling were splendid. Playing long ball for Italiano wasn’t as difficult as it is for some people.

  • Chievo (2007 – 2009)
  • Padova (2009 – 2012)
