PSG vs Inter Miami was one of the most hyped matches at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the United Stages. European champions Paris Saint-Germain thumped Lionel Messi‘s Inter Miami 4-0 to progress to the quarter-final of the global tournament.

Joao Neves scored two goals before an own goal from Tomas Aviles and a well taken Achraf Hakimi strike sealed the win for PSG in the first half. There wasn’t so much action in the second half as the Parisians seemed contended with their 4-0 goal difference.

PSG, who won the UEFA Champions League this season after thumping Inter Milan 5-0 in the final, will face Bayern Munich in the quarter-final of the Club World Cup. Bayern Munich beat Brazilian side Flamengo 4-2 to reach the quarters.

The majority of football fans expected Inter Miami, who sit sixth in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference, to have a difficult time against European giants PSG.

Well, their struggles were evident early on as Neves found himself unmarked in a dangerous position and easily converted Vitinha’s free-kick to open the scoring in the sixth minute. Neves scored his side’s second goal of the match in the 39th minute when he completed a fine passing sequence involving teammates Bradley Barcola and Fabian Ruiz.

Things got worse for Inter Miami before the break as Tomas Aviles directed Desire Doue’s cross into his own net before Achraf Hakimi completed the thumping in added time.

PSG slowed down after the break and it was Miami who appeared to be in control of the second half. Messi almost pulled one goal back at the start of the second half but Gianluigi Donnarumma did well to save the Argentine’s header after a quick counter-attack. There were chants of “Messi” towards the end of the match as Inter Miami fans hoped for a consolation goal that eventually never arrived.

Speaking after the PSG vs Inter Miami match, Javier Mascherano said he was proud of his team and acknowledged Luis Enrique’s side as the beat team in the world.

“I’m very proud of my players. Today you could see the difference in class, but football has given us the chance to compete. This is probably the best team in the world with a great coach, but we took them on.” Mascherano said according to ESPN.

Kane Scores Twice In Bayern’s 4-2 Win Over Flamengo

In another round of 16 fixture played last night, Bayern Munich secured a 4-2 win over Brazilian side Flamengo to book their spot in the quarter-final of the Club World Cup.

Flamengo made it to the round of 16 after going eleven matches unbeaten. However, they found themselves trailing barely six minutes into the match against Bayern as midfielder Erick Pulgar scored an own goal from Joshua Kimmich’s corner. The Bavarians increased their lead three minutes later when Harry Kane‘s dangerous low strike found the back of the net after a slight deflection from Leo Ortiz.

Gerson pulled one back for Flamengo in the 33rd minute but Leon Goretzka’s goal shortly before the break ruined the possibility of the Brazilian side pulling a comeback. Jorginho sent Manuel Neuer the wrong way from the penalty spot before Kane netted Bayern’s fourth goal in the 73rd minute.

Bayern, who have scored 154 goals across all competitions this season, will face PSG in a blockbuster set to take place on Sunday.
