The young La Masia talent has become a star at Barcelona playing in 106 matches and scoring 25 goals while laying on 34 assists. Since making his debut during Xavi Hernandez’s reign as manager aged 15 years and 290 days, he has already won two La Liga titles and a European Championship.

Yamal has been outstanding under manager Hansi Flick in 2024-25, scoring 18 goals and providing 25 assists in 55 matches. He played a central role in Barca’s successful season which saw the Catalans win the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup. The Spain international is only 17 and has already achieved more than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo did at his age.
Messi had netted only one goal in nine appearances when he was the same age while Ronaldo had scored five in 19 appearances for Sporting Lisbon. Yamal has already scored four times for his country at international level while both Messi and Ronaldo had not yet received a call to play for their respective nations until they turned 18.
While Messi started slow at Barcelona compared to Yamal, he went on to achieve unmatched success with the Catalans, scoring an incredible 672 goals for the club, winning four UEFA Champions League, eight Ballon d’Or and several domestic silverware. It remains to be seen if Yamal will win as much silverware as Messi by the time he retires of leaves Barca.
