Apart from playing football, his father also worked at a shipyard. He passed away when Ronaldinho was eight years old after hitting his head in the family’s swimming pool. The former Barcelona man has a son named after his father.
Ronaldinho has an older brother, Roberto de Assis, was also a footballer. He also has a sister, Deisi, who worked as his press coordinator.
In 2019, Ronaldinho found himself in trouble with authorities due to unpaid taxes, leading to the confiscation of his Brazilian and Spanish passports. Born in a family with history in football, Ronaldinho fell in love with the game at a very young age. He started catching the attention of locals in his neighbourhood in 2008 and was given the nickname Ronaldinho-inho which means small. He also played futsal and beach football before eventually deciding to play organized football.
He honed his skills at Gremio for eleven years and then was handed his senior debut in 1998. Ronaldinho arrived in Europe for the first time in 2001 when he was acquired by Paris Saint-Germain. He spent two years with the Parisians before securing his dream move to Barcelona.
Ronaldinho achieved great success with Barcelona, including winning two La Liga and a UEFA Champions League.
