Born in a football loving family, Josip Juranovic fell in love with the sport while still a small boy. He started playing organized football at Dubrava academy in 2004 and went through the club’s youth ranks for seven years. He then had a two-month stint at NK Croatia Sesvete before returning to Dubrava where he completed his youth development.
Juranovic was then promoted to the senior team where he made his senior debut in the 2012–13 season. The defender’s performance during his early career days caught the attention of other clubs and he was soon on their radar. He joined Hajduk Split in early 2015 and went on to establish his name as one of the best players in the top division of the Croatian league.

On July 31, 2020, Juranovic moved to a foreign league after signing with Polish side Legia Warsaw. He spent only a season at the club and moved to Scottish giants Celtic after an impressive performance.
