CNN reports that an official report by Guardia Civil in Spain indicated that a tyre burst while overtaking led to the crash and the inferno that followed thereafter.
Spanish authorities only identified Jota and Silva based on identification documents at the scene and the car’s registration plate. Further forensic tests on their bodies at a morgue in Zamora confirmed their identities.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot mourned Jota, saying he feels pained that a father and mother lost their two sons to a car crash.
