There are a few notable transfers that could happen on deadline day. The 2025 summer transfer window will go down as one characterized by major hijackings.
The last few weeks have been chaotic as clubs scramble to get the players they need to strengthen their respective squads. Arsenal, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Manchester United have been the busiest clubs this summer and have made signings that could impact their 2025/26 campaign.
One of the most talked about transfers this summer has been Alexander Isak to Liverpool. The Swede, who is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the world, made it clear to Newcastle earlier in the summer that he intends to join Liverpool before the window closes. However, the Magpies tried to block the move, forcing the player to down his tools in attempt to force the move.

Isak has not played for Newcastle since the start of the season and has reportedly been training away from the rest of his teammates. As a result, Newcastle were forced to look for another striker and their search landed them to Nick Woltemade, who arrived from Stuttgart a few days ago. Eventually, this paved way for Isak’s transfer to Liverpool.

On Sunday night, it was reported that Newcastle and Liverpool had reached an agreement for the transfer of Isak. BBC Sport reports that the Reds will pay a record £125 million to sign the 25-year-old.
With the window entering the phase of scramble, we take a look at other major transfers that could happen on deadline day.
Emiliano Martinez to Manchester United
Goalkeeping has been one of the weakest areas in Manchester United’s squad. Both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir have struggled in the opening games of the season, forcing United scouts back into the market to look for another goalkeeper.
Emiliano Martinez, who informed Aston Villa that he intends to leave at the end of the season, is one of the favorites to join United on deadline day. The Red Devils already reached out to Martinez earlier in the summer and have been in contact in the past few hours as they want to sign him.

Martinez was left out of Aston Villa’s squad that faced Crystal Palace on Sunday as he is working on a move away from the club.
Marc Guehi
Liverpool’s transfer business is not yet over despite acquiring Alexander Isak late on Sunday. The Reds are reportedly eyeing Crystal Palace’s captain Marc Guehi, who has one year left on his contract. Palace would rather sell the player than lose him on a free transfer next summer.
However, Guehi would only join Liverpool on deadline day if Joe Gomez leaves the club. Gomez is heavily linked with Serie A side AC Milan.
Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho has only today to decide his football future. If the transfer window closes before he joins a European club, he will have to spend next season away from Europe.
The England international has rejected several top clubs this summer, with the main problem being his huge salary demands. However, Aston Villa have pushing to sign him in the past few hours and it’s likely that he’ll join Unai Emery’s side. Gianluigi Donnarumma
Gianluigi Donnarumma to Manchester City has been talked about in recent weeks, especially after PSG ended their campaign at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Donnarumma and PSG decided to part ways and the player already bid farewell to PSG ‘ultra’ a few days ago. While nothing has so far happened, we expect the deal to be sealed today before the window closes.
