Lewis Hamilton retirement date is officially out after years of speculation.

Since joining Scuderia Ferrari, his fans and F1 pundits have in the past speculated about his retirement, especially after joining Ferrari in 2025.

Hamilton left Mercedes after 11 years to make a jab for an eighth Formula 1 World Championship title.

Mercedes gave him seven titles to his name until 2021 when he controversially lost to Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.

Constant technical and mechanical issues dogged Mercedes for three seasons, and this pushed him to ditch the German team for the Italian team.

However, it seems a bad call since his performance is far off the mark.

As of 2025 Italian Grand Prix, Hamilton sits in sixth place in the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship with 117 points.

When is Lewis Hamilton Retirement Date?

Although he is 40, Lewis Hamilton retirement date is in the next 10 years. He said that he has no plan to retire from Formula 1.

He said that Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso is his motivation to keep racing. The Spaniard is now 44, and is still racing.

“I have no plans to stop anytime soon. I really enjoy that Fernando is still racing…It means he’s older than me,” said Hamilton recently.

“I’ll keep going as long as he does, even until he’s 50,” he added.

How Did Ferrari Fans React to Hamilton’s Retirement Date?

Hamilton’s retirement date declaration set off a flurry of comments from his fans. Some felt it was the right call, while others had snide remarks about it all.

“He could buy a F1 team and drive until his hair is grey,” a fan by the name Ossy ForFour started off the fireworks in the debate about Lewis Hamilton retirement date.

Stephen Folt corrected him saying that an F1 team is too expensive for Hamilton to afford.

“I think you grossly underestimate how much a F1 team would cost, he definitely couldn’t afford it,” he told ForFour.

In response, he said: “His nose&ear rings are very exspensive (sic), so yeah he could buy a team.”

Deon Pieterson was even nastier in his comment saying Ferrari made a mistake signing Hamilton.

“Lol the only way you can do that us if you let go of this idea of winning another championship. And I doubt that any team will make the same mistake that Ferrari made. So you would be lucky to get another seat for big money and the longer you race the lower your win ratio become.”

Tim Williams insisted that Hamilton should have retired in 2022.

“Too bad Hamilton doesn’t realize that not all drivers expire the same. Unfortunately, he should have retired in 2022. Alonso on the other hand is good for another 5 years.”

Alex Morier encouraged him saying that, “You will rise again SLH. The Force Be With You.”

Johan de Heer said: “I’m absolutely no fan of Lewis, in fact I can’t stand him. But, I do admire his persistence. Years of things not working out and he still doesn’t give up. Mentally he’s very strong and I do respect that.”
