Z Esports in Flux: Manager Jafar Leaves, Trex Walks Out

Trex Z Esports

Kenya’s top FC 26 team, Z Esports, is in turmoil as questions arise over the future of Trex, the number one ranked player on the leaderboard. Trex recently updated his profile to free agent without any official announcement from the team or the player.

Adding to the confusion, manager Jafar has parted ways with Z Esports, leaving fans and individuals closer to the team wondering what’s happening behind the scenes.

Despite the shake-up, Z Esports says it is still strong, with key players like Shaq, Bashir, Collo Gamer, Atak, and Maestro still leading the team.

Meanwhile, the latest Kenya FC 26 leaderboard sets the stage for eLigue 1 Edition 5, which will take place next month.

In this article, we’ll cover the latest news about Trex and Jafar, go over the current leaderboard, and also discuss about the highly anticipated eLigue 1 tournament.

Trex Leaves Z Esports

Z Esports, widely regarded as Kenya’s most dominant FC 26 squad, has been rocked by the sudden departure of Trex, who has been one of the team’s standout performer in recent months.

Trex
Trex (R) recently updated his profile to free agent without any official announcement.

Sources say that Trex, who is currently at the top of the national FC 26 leaderboard, chose to part ways with Z Esports quietly a few days ago, without a farewell post or official announcement.

According to reports, teammates only found out about the news during last weekend’s tournament in Thika, which shocked both players and management. It is alleged that communication between Trex and management had already broken down in recent weeks.

The star player had missed internal meetings and stopped being involved in long-term team plans, which showed that there were bigger problems.

While clarifying the situation, team owner Bongez said:

“The team is yet to take action on the incident to set an example for others who thinks they are bigger than the team. One person can’t run the community. We are still waiting to hear Trex’s side of the story. Until then, he is still the Z Esports player. Indiscipline is totally unacceptable and will not be tolarated.”

Despite the shock, the team remains optimistic. The management pointed out that they still have Ugandan phenomenon Bashir on their roster. Bashir won his second major tournament on Kenyan soil last weekend, beating Trex along the way.

Shaq, Collo Gamer, Atak, and Maestro — four players who have consistently delivered strong performances and added stability to the squad — remain with Z Esports.

Manager Jafar Steps Down Amid Allegations

Adding to the Trex drama, manager Jafar has parted ways with Z Esports. Allegations say that he negotiated the team’s welfare without the consent of the founders.

Our sources confirm that Jafar had reportedly agreed to hand over the team to a potential buyer. However, the team’s founders didn’t approve the decision. When questioned about these actions, he decided to step down.

The timing of his departure following Trex’s exit has fueled speculation about internal disagreements over team management and direction.

Even so, Z Esports’ managers are still sure that their team’s culture and organizational structure remain solid. The team should keep doing well in upcoming competitions because they have experienced players like Shaq and Bashir who keep things stable.

“Z Esports is still very solid as you saw our player Bashir won his second major tournament in FC26, defeating Trex. The team’s strength comes from its ability to bring out the best in every player.” Bongez added.

Players ranked 15th and lower will have to fight through preliminary qualifiers to get to the Round of 32, which makes it more important for mid-tier players to do well.

This leaderboard not only highlights the best players in Kenya right now but also sets the stage for an exciting eLigue 1 competition where every point counts and every matchup can shift the momentum.

Fans are already guessing which new players will step up to take on the experienced veterans, with the qualifiers set to take place on March 7, 2026.

This snapshot of the leaderboard makes it clear that Kenya’s competitive FC 26 scene is as lively and unpredictable as ever. This sets the stage for a showdown that could change the order of national esports.

eLigue 1 Tour – Bigger Stakes Than Ever

The eLigue 1 Tour Kenya isn’t just another local esports event. It’s part of a well-known international competition run by EA SPORTS and Ligue 1 McDonald’s that aims to put Kenyan gamers on the world stage.

This year’s eLigue 1 Tour Kenya 2026 is part of a long tradition of national qualifiers that lead to high-stakes finals where the winners get cash prizes and a trip to Paris, France.

The tournament is open only to gamers aged 16 and above. There are two competitive categories: PS5 (EA Sports FC26) and FC Mobile. The winners will get a sponsored trip to France to experience Ligue 1 McDonald’s, which includes stadium tours and watching matches, thanks to LFP Media.

Kenya’s eLigue 1 Tour 2026 Schedule

The Qualifiers Round will take place on March 7, 2026, at PartyOn Arcade in BBS Mall. The competitors will be seeded into knockout matchups.

The highly anticipated Grand Final will take place on March 14, 2026, starting at 12:00 PM at the University of Nairobi Main Campus. The top eight qualifiers will compete for the championship.

The winners in both categories (PS5 (EA Sports FC26) and FC Mobile) will go to Paris and have VIP match experiences and stadium tours as part of the official eLigue 1 tour.

Prizes and Rewards

Unlike earlier seasons where the grand prize focused mainly on money, the 2026 Tour emphasizes international exposure:

  • Each winner (EA FC26 and FC Mobile) gets Ksh 20,000.

  • Second Place: Ksh 10,000 each

  • Paris Experience: The trip is fully paid for and includes match tickets, stadium tours, accommodation, and transportation within the city (players pay for their own expenses).

These prizes are based on past events where champions have received robust support. For example, in 2025, the national champion Jojo took home Ksh 25,000 and a trip to Paris.

A Growing Esports Phenomenon

Kenya’s eLigue 1 Tour has been getting more and more popular. In past years, qualifiers drew hundreds of players and had very close matches, including shocking knockouts by teens and well-known gamers.

Eric “Demon” Ngige and Joash “Jojo” Agutu, two well-known players, have played for Kenya in Paris in the past. This shows how the Tour helps local players get into international esports circuits.

This history makes the 2026 leaderboard more important. The top 14 players today, led by Trex, are now in the Round of 32 and will compete for national supremacy at the eLigue 1 Tour finals next month.
