The highly anticipated Paul vs Tyson showdown eventually went down earlier this morning in front of over 72,000 fans in Texas. Mike Tyson, 58, lost via unanimous decision to Youtuber-turned boxer Jake Paul, 27, as millions of other fans watched the fight on the streaming giant Netflix. One of the judges scored 80-72 and the others scored 79-73 and 79-73 in favour of Paul.

The Friday night bout, sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, had been reduced to eight rounds and somehow failed to live up to its enormous hype. Tyson, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, struggled against boxing novice Paul and only managed to land 18 punches compared to Paul’s 78.

Iron Mike (50-7, 44 KOs) was an absolute beast in the 1980s who spread fear and tore his opponents in the ring. Despite being showed love by fans when he returned to the ring on early Saturday morning, he couldn’t attack with vigour during the fight which was streamed on Netflix.

Mike Tyson has struggled with health issues in recent years, both physically and mentally, and his return to action was something no boxing fan had expected. The 58-year-old veteran is trying to overcome years of drug abuse as he has been drinking a lot and taking a lot of drugs.

Two years ago, a picture of him being pushed around on wheelchair because he was in so much pain sparked a lot of reactions on the internet. The Paul vs Tyson fight was initially scheduled to take place in the summer but was postponed because of Tyson needing emergency help because of a bleeding stomach ulcer. During the fight, he looked like he had a knee injury as he wore a knee brace. Sadly, that was Jake Paul’s opponent in the intergenerational fight.

Paul Vs Tyson – Old Man Versus Youngster

The Paul vs Tyson fight took place in front of a sold-out crowd at AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Prior to the bout, footage of Jake Paul arriving was greeted with silence. A few minutes later, footage of Tyson heading to his locker room wearing a jacket written “Iron Mike” was received by loud roars by the fans who were all routing for the legend.

Paul, wearing the most expensive shorts in the world, made his entrance into the ring alongside his brother Logan Paul in a customized car instead of the traditional fighter’s walk boxing fans are used to. Meanwhile, Tyson arrived like a true boxer and showed intent of proving to the world that he still got fight DNA in him.

Despite Iron Mike getting into action like a raging bull and showing potential in the first round, Paul looked to be in control as the fight progressed. The round, which lasted two minutes, ended with Tyson wearing a brace on his problematic knee.

Jake Paul took total control of the Paul vs Tyson bout in the second round as he landed a few punches on the man who is 31 years older than him. He went on to win all the rounds with little effort, landing 78 punches. Meanwhile, Tyson managed just 18 punches. The crowd went mute as Paul was crowned the winner of the Paul vs Tyson fight by the judges.

Paul started his boxing career in 2020, recording six straight wins mostly against former MMA fighters. The YouTube sensation’s only loss came in February 2023 against Tommy Fury. He has since gone on to record five consecutive wins, including the clash against veteran Mike Tyson.
