Most Women Grand Slam Appearances
These are the five WTA players with most women Grand Slam appearances in history.
1. Venus Williams

The seven-time Grand Slam champion has set multiple records in the WTA Tour. She has a total of 94 appearances in major slams. She is also the oldest player playing at the 2025 US Open; Venus is 45 years old.
The former world No 1 broke the record this year with her US Open debut, marking her 94th appearance in a major Grand Slam.
She entered the US Open on a wild card, sparking controversy. Some tennis quarters expressed their disapproval with the tournament organisers for overlooking younger players who deserved the wild card more than Venus.
Still, she tops the list of most women Grand Slam appearances. Venus’ first Grand Slam event was Roland Garros in 1997, where she reached the second round.
The 2025 US Open is her first major tournament in two years and her 25th appearance overall in New York.
The recently-engaged Venus to Andrea Preti has played Wimbledon 24 times, the Australian Open (21) and the French Open (24) times.
2. Serena Williams

It is without any doubt that one of the greatest players of all time, Serena Williams has achieved her milestone of 81 main-draw appearances at the Grand Slams. She is the second WTA player in the Open Era to hold this record.
The first Slam appearance by Serena occurred in 1998 when she was still 16 and entered the Australian Open. She later retired from playing tennis 24 years later. She played her last match at the 2022 US Open.
Flushing Meadows marked her 81st appearance – last of the most women Grand Slam appearances for the American tennis legend.
She won 23 Grand Slams in women’s singles in her entire tennis career, a big Open Era record. Serena won more than a quarter of the major tournaments she played in.
3. Alize Cornet
With 69 consecutive appearances in the Grand Slam main draw, retired tennis star Alize Cornet holds a total of 72 appearances in major slams.
Her debut appearance in a major slam was at Roland Garros in 2005. Her 72nd and last main-draw appearance at a Grand Slam event was at the French Open in 2024.
Cornet famously made her only Grand Slam quarter-final at the 2022 Australian Open, but made it to the fourth round at the US Open, French Open and Wimbledon.

Matching Frazier’s tally is Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova, a two-time Grand Slam singles champion and former World No. 2.
She last competed in 2021 but never formally announced her retirement. Her Grand Slam journey began at the 2002 Australian Open and concluded with her 71st appearance at Wimbledon in 2021, marking the quiet end of a distinguished career.
5. Amy Frazier
Retired American tennis player Amy Frazier ended her career by booking a spot at the most women Grand Slam appearances. She notched 71 Grand Slam main-draw appearances.
The eight-time WTA Tour champion and former World No. 13 made her debut in professional tennis as a 14-year-old.
She got a wildcard at the 1987 US Open and wrapped up her Slam career nearly 20 years later at the same venue in 2006. Frazier reached the quarterfinals twice—at the Australian Open in 1992 and the US Open in 1995.
