Few players in the tennis world have had a steady rise like current world number two Carlos Alcaraz. When Roger Federer announced his retirement from tennis in 2022 and Rafael Nadal’s return seemed uncertain combined with the fact that Britain’s Andy Murray and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic are in the twilight of their careers, everyone could feel a deep void being formed in the beautiful game. However, the rapid rise of Spain international Alcaraz has assured fans that the future of tennis is in safe hands.

The 20-year-old’s powerful game, sheer dominance and work ethic have not only earned him Grand Slams but also won the hearts of many tennis fans. Every tennis fan now knows the name Carlos Alcaraz, unless you have been living under a rock.

The Spaniard burst onto the scene in 2018 at the age of 15 and became a sensation three years later when he broke into the top 100. In September 2022, his name was etched in the history books when he won his first major singles title at the US Open and became the first teenager (male) in the Open Era to be ranked world number one.

Following his unforgettable win at the US Open, Alcaraz went on to add another Grand Slam to his growing list at Wimbledon in 2023.

The youngster started his 2023 by winning Indian Wells, which is one of the biggest tennis tournaments outside the Grand Slam, before being eliminated in the semi-final stage of Roland Garros by Djokovic. He had his revenge against the Serb weeks later when he beat him in one of the most thrilling matches ever to claim the Wimbledon title.

Alcaraz had an unforgettable 2024 season as he claimed two Grand Slams. The defeat in the quarter-final stage of the Australian Open motivated him to bounce back stronger as he went on to clinch the French Open in June. By winning Roland Garros, he became the youngest player to win slams on all three surfaces, breaking Nadal’s record by 19 months.

Alcaraz went on to win his fourth major at Wimbledon after beating Djokovic in straight sets. He followed the triumph by an Olympic silver medal in Paris, France.

Alcaraz’s Coaching System

Carlos Alcaraz’s success in tennis can be attributed to the fact that he is talented and has a dedicated team of coaches. The current world number two works closely with Carlos Ferrero, who is not only a former world number one but also a Grand Slam champion.

His amazing playing style and outstanding personality has managed to draw the attention of tennis fans from all parts of the world. Even though he has a tougher task of matching the levels of Djokovic, Nadal and Federer, the 21-year-old will go down in history as one of the finest talents the tennis world has ever seen.
