1. His Parents Are From Ghana
To begin with, Mainoo was born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, to a Ghanaian couple. Speaking after being included in Gareth Southgate’s team, the youngster told Daily Mail his origin while talking about his upbringing.
“Both of my parents come from Ghana, and football has been the cornerstone of my upbringing. Since childhood, it has been a constant presence in my life, and I have cherished every moment of it.” Mainoo told Daily Mail, as per Completesports.
According to sources on the internet, Felix Mainoo and Abena Herold are the proud parents of Mainoo.
2. Represented England At Various Youth Levels
As already mentioned, Mainoo received his first call-up to the England national team last year. While this is a big milestone in his career, it is not the first time that he is representing England at international level. Mainoo has played for various youth levels of England, thanks to his stellar performance at Manchester United’s academy. Prior to his first senior call-up, he played at under-17, under-18 and under-19 levels.
Mainoo was also eligible to play for the Ghana national team considering his parents are from the African country, but he opted to represent England.

3. Started His Career As A Striker
Moving on with things to know about Kobbie Mainoo is he started his football journey as a striker. While many know him for his composure and brilliance in midfield, few are actually aware that the 19-year-old used to play as a forward in the early days of his career.

4. Winner Of Jimmy Murphy Young Player Of The Year
Mainoo is one of the Manchester United youngsters who have proven to be class at the academy by winning the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year. Well, this shouldn’t be a surprise if you’ve seen his performance since getting promotion to the senior team.
Mainoo was awarded the prestigious award at the end of last season, joining the list of former winners which include Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.
5. He Is The Brother Of Love Island Star Jordan Mainoo-Hames

Jordan entered the show in week three and got into a relationship with fellow contestant Anna Vakili before he started eyeing India Reynolds, which led to their break-up. He is now working as a fashion model and has worked with big brands such as Louis Vuitton.
After Kobbie made his debut for the Under-18s side of Manchester United four years ago, Jordan posted on Twitter (formerly X) “Proud big bro moment [for real]”.
