The question is: Who are the best signings of the 2024-25 season? It’s almost a wrap in European football calendar after a thrilling campaign with record-breaking fixtures and unforgettable matches.

As of now, we already know who won the league titles in each of the top five leagues. Liverpool won the English Premier League trophy in Arne Slot’s debut season with the Reds, Barcelona won the La Liga title after completely dominating Real Madrid in El Clasico the whole season, Bayern Munich wrestled the the title back from Bayer Leverkusen in Thomas Muller’s final season at the club while Paris Saint-Germain continued with their routine win of the Ligue 1 title.

The biggest surprise of the season was Napoli, who parted ways with star players Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, winning the Serie A title on the final day of the campaign.

Well, we can’t fail to mention the fairytale wins in domestic competition that happened this season. Bologna, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur all ended their trophy droughts this campaign. Tonight, Chelsea face a rejuvenated Real Betis side in the final of the UEFA Conference League.

There’s still a chance that we could see more dramatic title triumphs in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday when PSG take on Inter Milan. Whereas the Parisians will be aiming to win their first-ever Champions League title, Inter will be hoping for another title triumph having won the prestigious tournament with Jose Mourinho in 2010.

With that said, let’s take a look at the best signings of the 2024-25 season.

5. Antony

After two-and-a-half painful seasons at Manchester United, Antony finally found life at Real Betis. We bet no one expected him to bounce back the way he has done following his loan move to the Spanish side in January.

Antony established himself as one of the key players in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad upon arrival and has not only helped Betis finish sixth on the standings but also reach their first European final where they’ll face Chelsea tonight. Antony has scored nine goals and registered five assists since signing with Betis.

“I’ve found myself again because I’m happy, things are going well.” Antony said after scoring his ninth goal for Betis. The 25-year-old Brazilian has been put up for sale by Manchester United who will demand around £40 million from his suitors.

4. Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen is undoubtedly one of the best signings of the 2024-25 season. When he fell out with Napoli officials after failing to secure a move to one of the top European clubs, Osimhen was left with no other option but to go out on loan. He opted for a move to Galatasaray where his goalscoring prowess turned him into a fan-favorite.

The Nigeria international helped Galatasaray win the Super Lig and the Turkish Super Cup, scoring 36 goals in just 40 games.

Osimhen is a naturally gifted forward who is a nightmare to play against. With the 2024-25 campaign over, we expect him to get his career back on track by signing for one of the top footballing giants this summer. Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs that have been linked with him throughout the season.

3. Michael Olise

A fantastic player. Despite Harry Kane getting most of the attention at Bayern Munich, Olise’s performance has caught the eyes of many. The 23-year-old has played a key role in Bayern’s title-winning campaign, recording 18 assists. He was also involved in seven Champions League goals and is arguably the right person to feed Harry Kane the ball.

Olise, a former player for Crystal Palace, won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year award in his debut season with the Bavarians.

2. Kylian Mbappe

When the campaign started, Kylian Mbappe struggled to adapt to his new role on the middle of Real Madrid’s main attack. However, the strength of character of the former PSG man came to full display as the campaign progressed, earning him a spot on the list of the best signings of the 2024-25 season.

Mbappe scored 42 goals across all competitions for the Los Blancos, including 31 in La Liga. He did not only win the La Liga Golden Boot but also clinched the European Golden Shoe. The Frenchman has so far proven to be every inch of a ‘Galactico’ Real fans expected him to be.

1. Scott McTominay

Scott McTominay parted ways with his boyhood club Manchester United last summer, and most of the club’s fans were not sad with his exit. According to many fans, the Scotland international did not have what it takes to become a Manchester United legend.

However, Napoli manager Antonio Conte saw potential in Scott and has helped him become one of the best midfielders in the world in just one season. His vital strike against Cagliari on the final day of the season saw Napoli win the Serie A title and he was named the Italian league’s MVP.
