At only 20 years old, he has already written his name into Kenya’s football history books by scoring crucial goals for Kenya’s national team.
His strike against Morocco’s Atlas Lions earned Kenya a 1-0 win. He followed it up with another goal against Zambia.
Who is Ryan Wesley Ogam?
Born and raised in Umoja, Nairobi’s Eastlands area, Ryan Wesley Ogam grew up in a neighbourhood widely recognised for producing exceptional football talent.

He attended Kakamega High School, a football powerhouse in Kenya, before transferring to Dagoretti High School to complete his education.
Both institutions are known for producing celebrated Kenyan players, and Ogam followed in the footsteps of legends such as Denis Oliech and Maurice Sunguti.
Football runs in his bloodline. His father, Daudi Abok Obonyo, once played for Gor Mahia and Mahakama F.C as a defender. Interestingly, Ogam started his football journey as a defensive midfielder before transitioning into a striker.
It’s this position that built his pace, dribbling, and movement have made him a threat to defenders.
How Did Wesley Ogam Start His Football Career?
Ryan Wesley Ogam started his professional career at Rainbow F.C, where he earned a modest salary of Ksh 15,000 per month. Despite the small earnings, his passion and commitment to the game pushed him forward.
His breakthrough came when he moved to Dubai to join Falcons F.C, where he gained valuable international experience.

In 2024, Ogam returned to Kenya and signed with Tusker F.C, one of the country’s most decorated clubs. Initially deployed as a defensive midfielder, he eventually evolved into a prolific striker.
He scored an incredible 15 goals in 17 league matches in the 2024-25 season. Ryan Wesley Ogam became Tusker’s top scorer besides earning numerous awards, including the Tusker Player of the Month.
His journey with the national team began in 2017 when he represented Kenya at the CECAFA U-17 tournament.
Later, he featured in the U-20 Four Nations tournament in 2024 before making his mark in Kenya’s CHAN qualification campaign.
His unforgettable goal against Morocco at Kasarani Stadium was his first for the Harambee Stars, and in the 2024 CHAN.
