Collins Ngoran Fai was born in Bamenda, Cameroon on August 13 1992 to a carpenter father and a housewife mother.
He has two elder brothers and a younger sister. The family lived in a small house in Bamenda, a city in the English-speaking part of Cameroon.
On realizing his talent, his parents encouraged him to work it and Fai became a regular in the school team where he was scouted by professional clubs and became a choice for Union Doula, a top Cameroonian club.

Career
Born and raised in Bamenda, Fai spent his entire youth career at local FC Bamenda and later joined the Cameroonian top team Union Douala. While playing as a regular in his school team, he was scouted by professional clubs and joined European football for the first time when he signed with the Romanian team Dinamo București.
He made appearances for Dinamo over 100 times before joining Standard Liege in Belgium, helping the club win the Belgian Cup.
