CHAN 2024 tickets Kenya made headlines after selling six days before the start of the opening match of the African Nation Championships (CHAN 2024).

Kenya’s Harambee Stars will face off with DR Congo in the opening match. This is the first time that Kenya is hosting a continental tournament.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) granted hosting rights to Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania after a successful joint bid.

Nicholas Musonye, the LOC chair, explained that no tickets would be sold during match days. Musonye said that they came up with this directive as a crowd control and security measure during the competition.

The total sell-out of tickets is a statement of the high anticipation that Kenyan football fans have for Harambee Stars as it faces DR Congo in the opening match.

Josphat Mburu, an avid Stars supporter, is among thousands of Kenyans who will attend the Kenya vs DR Congo match.

He patiently waited for the CHAN 2024 tickets to start selling out.

“For over 30 years of my life, I have never seen Kenya host such a weighty tournament. That’s why I decided to be among the first people to purchase the tickets as a sign of support for Harambee Stars. The team needs us as fans to come through for them, and I don’t see any other way except this,” he told SportsLeo.

Karey Mwatha, another football fan, is excited about the first CHAN 2024 match going down on home soil.

“I can’t wait for the tournament to start. I have a good feeling about Harambee Stars this time. My girls are just as excited as I am,” she said.

Where Will Harambee Stars Play DR Congo?

Kenya vs DR Congo match will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, on August 2, at 3 pm.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya had earlier asked African football fans to turn up in large numbers in support of their home teams throughout the tournament.

His call was well received, as evidenced by the CHAN 2024 tickets Kenya sales. Mvurya assured the fans that they would be safe in the country.

The CS’ call was amplified further by Veron Mosengo, the CAF’s secretary-general who asked all Kenyans to exemplify the country’s Pamoja Spirit.

Mosengo said this would be a positive indicator to the rest of the world of what to expect during AFCON 2027 where Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will jointly host the regional tournament.

How Much are CHAN 2024 Tickets in Kenya?

Regular tickets for the match cost Ksh200, Ksh500 for VIP and Ksh1000 for VVIP. With such affordable CHAN 2024 tickets Kenya rates, more fans can purchase the tickets to the event.

Kenya will also face off with Morocco and Zambia in Group A, which looks very tough for the Stars given their record and that of their opponents.

Nevertheless, Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy is hopeful that his squad will perform well in their group matches despite the fear of playing against big teams such as Morocco.
