The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled a staggering $3.5 million pool for the tournament hosted by three East African countries: Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
It’s a 32% rise since the previous edition, indicating that CAF is determined to honour the best and promote player popularity from participating countries.
The winning team will take home millions of dollars, while teams that reach the group stage will enjoy a cash package as planned by CAF.
What is CAF’s CHAN 2024 Prize Money Like?
The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) has a total of $3.5 million in its pool for prize money. In short, there is Ksh1.3 billion for CHAN 2024 prize money.
The event is organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). It involves national teams, consisting of all-player teams in their respective league system.

The winning team will bag Ksh 452 million ($3,497,480), second place Ksh 155 million ($1,195,725) and third place Ksh 90.4 million ($699,696).
The fourth-placed team will get Ksh 77.5 million ($599,385). The four teams that lose in the quarter-finals will receive Ksh 58 million ($448,920).
Third-place teams in groups will earn Ksh 38.7 million ($299,238), and the fourth-place teams will earn Ksh 25.8 million ($199,692).
Where Will CHAN 2024 be Held?
There are five venues where matches will be played from August 2, when the rush for CHAN 2024 prize money begins.
The tournament’s final and all matches of Group A will be played in Kenya at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani Stadium and at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, located in Dar es Salaam, will host all Group matches. In addition, Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium will host all Group D matches.
Lastly, Uganda’s Mandela National Stadium, located in Namboole will host Group C matches and all third-place play-offs.
CHAN 2024 Technology
Besides CHAN 2024 prize money, CAF will deploy smart technology through the latest CAF digital Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.
No stadium full installations or cameras will be used. Instead, mobile cameras and handheld devices shall be used.
The inclusion policy with regard to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will have at least four women referees at the start of the group stage matches.

The tournament will be a pilot for CAF in regional coordination. Already, there are proposals like the Pamoja visa being discussed to make it easy for fans, teams and officials to travel.
CAF is satisfied that the safety and quality of matches will keep the tournament in good standing.
