Which Country Has The Most AFCON Titles?
Egypt has been the dominant force as far as the Africa Cup of Nations is the topic of discussion. The Pharaohs have clinched seven AFCON titles, including the opening edition of the continental competition back in 1957. Apart from Egypt, the other nations that competed at the inaugural edition of the continental event were Ethiopia and Sudan. The Pharaohs thrashed Ethiopia 4-1 to be crowned champions.
They were winners again when the tournament took place in 1959, but had to wait for over 25 years before winning another title in 1986. They won the prestigious trophy again in 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010.
