Affordable 2025 CHAN tickets in Uganda have delighted football fans in Kampala, while Kenyan and Tanzanian fans were left with more questions than answers.
They couldn’t understand why they had to get the tickets for slightly more than Ugandan fans. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are jointly hosting the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The three East African countries will jointly host the prestigious tournament, which exclusively features players who ply their trade in local leagues.
It’s the first of its kind in East Africa after years of bidding. Finally, the Confederation of African Federation (CAF) gave the three East African countries the right to host the event.
How Much are 2025 CHAN Tickets in Uganda?
Fans planning to attend the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Uganda are in for some good news. Ticket prices are incredibly pocket-friendly.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) has introduced a simple, three-tier pricing system with the 2025 CHAN tickets in Uganda in mind.
Regular match tickets will go for just $1, which is around UGX 3,800, giving everyday fans a chance to enjoy live CHAN football.
If you’re looking for a bit more comfort, VIP tickets are available at $2 (about UGX 7,600). The top-tier VVIP tickets, offering an exclusive match-day experience, will cost only $3 (roughly UGX 11,400).

This pricing approach is part of a broader effort across Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania to keep the tournament inclusive and accessible to local supporters.
Uganda will host Group C fixtures, one quarterfinal, and the third-place match at the iconic Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
The LOC has made it clear that this isn’t about profit—it’s about bringing the fans closer to the game and filling the stadium with energy. To make things easier and more secure, tickets will be sold exclusively online.
Slated to run from Saturday, August 2 to Saturday, August 30, CHAN 2024 promises thrilling continental action across Kampala, Nairobi, and Dar es Salaam.

In Uganda, all group stage and knockout matches will be held at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala, and organisers are keen to make the games accessible to all.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) in Uganda has announced that ordinary tickets will cost just $1 (approximately UGX3,586), VIP access will go for $2 (around UGX7,052), while VVIP tickets are set at $3 (about UGX10,578).
Why are Ugandan Tickets Cheap?
The 2025 CHAN tickets in Uganda have a well-received pricing model, especially among Ugandan fans who were concerned about affordability.
Dennis Mugimba, chairperson of Uganda’s LOC, said the decision was influenced by guidance from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which advised host nations to prioritise inclusivity over profits.
He said that CAF encouraged them to keep the ticket prices accessible. They proposed a three-tier structure of $1, $2, and $3 for ordinary, VIP, and VVIP, respectively.

Mugimba revealed in a statement to local media that the championship is more than football – it’s about bringing Ugandans together and allowing everyone to be part of a continental celebration.
He emphasised that Uganda’s motive behind hosting CHAN isn’t financial gain but giving fans a genuine football experience and a reason to take pride in their country.
Mugimba noted that the Ugandan government didn’t take up CHAN for commercial returns. Rather, the goal was to give fans a chance to witness international football and celebrate Uganda differently.
Fan Reaction
Fans have welcomed the prices, noting that they are significantly lower than what neighbouring Kenya is charging.
In Nairobi, regular tickets are priced at Ksh200, while VIP and VVIP seats go for Ksh500 and Ksh1,000 respectively. This contrast has sparked praise for Uganda’s inclusive approach to event hosting.
The first match on Kenyan soil will feature the Harambee Stars facing off against DR Congo on Sunday, August 3 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The game kicks off at 3:00 p.m., marking Kenya’s debut appearance at a CHAN tournament.
