Eberechi Eze Scores First Arsenal Goal In Carabao Cup
Arsenal reached the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening after securing a 2-0 victory over Port Vale. One of the major highlights of the game was summer signing Eberechi Eze scoring his first goal for the Gunners.
Eze joined Mikel Arteta’s team last month before the transfer window closed for a whopping £60 million. On Sunday, he gave a beautiful assist as the Gunners levelled the scores 1-1 against Manchester City deep in stoppage time at the Emirates Stadium.
The England international got on the scoresheet on Wednesday, ensuring Arsenal fans didn’t have to wait long for his debut goal. Speaking after the game, Eze said he has been working on scoring his first goal for Arsenal for some time now.
“Very special. Something I’ve been working towards for a long time. It’s a difficult place to come, solid team, it’s important to get a first goal and move forwards. There is a lot of depth in the squad, special players coming off the bench who can bring fresh energy.” Sky Sports quotes Eberechi Eze.
Arteta has come under criticism in recent weeks for his team’s lack of goals. The Spanish manager would have loved to see his team score several goals, which promoted him to include Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri, Eze and Martinelli in his attacking line-up against the League One side.

The Gunners took the lead inside eight minutes, thanks to Eze’s finish after a brilliant work by Martinelli down the flank. However, Port Vale, who were playing in front of their biggest crowd this century, avoided conceding another goal for the remainder of the first half.

The hosts almost levelled the scores with 15 minutes left to play when substitute Devante Cole unleashed a shot from outside the box. However, his curled effort went just over the bar.
Arsenal eventually sealed the win in the 86th minute after Leandro Trossard drove into the box, hence ending Port Vale’s resistance.
