How Bayern Munich Vs Chelsea Went Down

Chelsea, who won the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup last season, looked determined to continue their impressive performances in club competitions when they faced Bayern in their first Champions League fixture of the 2025-26 season.

Enzo Maresca’s side started the game well and created good chances, which Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto failed to capitalize on. Malo Gusto and Cole Palmer looked brilliant on the right side of the pitch as the Blues player better than their hosts.

However, Bayern slowly grew into the game and eventually started to look dangerous in the box. Kane squandered a good chance as his header went just over the bar.

The Bavarians took the lead shortly afterwards as Chalobah tapped Michael Olise’s pass into his own net. Moises Caicedo then brought down Kane in the area, and the lethal attacker made no mistake from the penalty spot as he found the back of the net through the bottom corner. Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez had no chance against Kane who has converted 24 out of 25 penalties during his time in Germany.

Palmer showed football fans what they had been missing in recent weeks as he struggled with a groin issue by racing with the ball from the halfway line to Bayern’s box where he scored after a quick one-two with Gusto.

Chelsea continued knocking on Bayern’s door as they looked for an equalizer but Gusto’s loose pass provided Kane with the perfect opportunity to increase his side’s lead to 3-1 in the 63rd minute.

Maresca made several key changes afterwards, introducing Alejandro Garnacho, Andrey Santos and Estavao. However, Bayern remained solid at the back to ensure they won the match. Palmer thought he had pulled one goal back for Chelsea in the 88th minute but his effort was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.
