In February 2022, Griner found himself in trouble in a foreign land (Russia) and was arrested for reportedly possessing vape cartridges. After pleading guilty to the charges against her in July, she was sentenced to nine years in prison the following month.
However, she was set free in December 2022 when the United States agreed a 1-for-1 prisoner swap for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout who had been serving time in the US. Since returning the United States, she has been only on the media due to her performance on the court and matters basketball.
Who Is the Male NBA Player Brittney Griner Dated?
The 2015 rumors that Brittney Griner once dated a male NBA player resurfaced while she was still in prison. Rumour is that shortly after Grinner’s breakup with WNBA star Glory Johnson, she started dating Anthony Davis. Griner and Johnson’s divorce was finalized after Griner filed for divorce shortly after the couple used IVF to conceive twins.

However, the New Orleans Pelicans star at the time [Davis] supposedly started dating Griner soon after her divorce from Johnson.
Griner and her new boyfriend chose to remain anonymous in the beginning stages of their relationship. Davis, at one point, described her as everything he ever had. He said that their connection was incredible. He added that they share a lot of interests and values. They would share shoes and shirts but later broke up without much huff.
Surprisingly, her relationship with Davis is unknown because she started dating her current wife, Cherelle Watson, in 2016.
This followed her divorce from Johnson. The big question is, how long did she date Davis? Griner met Watson when they were both freshmen at Baylor University. They clicked and one thing to the other over the years. Eventually, Watson came to be after marrying her. The latter changed her surname from Watson to Griner in 2019.
Although Cherelle and Griner met while they were both Baylor University in Texas students, they did not begin dating until 2016. This was after Griner’s divorce from ex-wife Glory Johnson.
In 2018, the Phoenix Mercury player popped the question to Cherelle. They had their wedding the next year in 2019 when Cherelle changed her surname.

“I will never forget the day I met you at Baylor in the sub area!” she recalled.
Cherelle’s LinkedIn page states that she attended Baylor University from 2010 to 2014. She studied political science and government with a family and child studies concentration. She later announced her May 2022 graduation from NCCU School of Law on Instagram. Thus, it suffices to say she has a career footing in government and law.
