When the England international made his senior debut for City barely four years ago, nobody imagined he would reach reach the top level so soon.

With his slender physique which raised eyebrows among fans and a good number of the coaching staff at City, some thought that he would never make it in the professional football world. However, he has turned out to be one of the players who have proven that physique doesn’t really matter on the pitch.

Palmer got the attention of football fans in August 2023 when he scored in the FA Community Shield against Arsenal and a few days later in the UEFA Super Cup. Considering the stiff competition at City, the attacking player opted for a transfer to Chelsea where he had his breakthrough.

He was the second highest leading goalscorer in the Premier League with 22 goals, five behind Haaland who fetched the Premier League Golden Boot. When Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City, he signed a seven-year deal. The Blues paid a whopping £42.5 million transfer fee which initially raised eyebrows considering he lacked the experience needed at the top level. But having been one of the most outstanding players across Europe during the 2023/24 season, Palmer was offered a new deal by the Blues.

The versatile attacker, who managed 25 goals and 15 assists across 45 games, signed a two-year contract extension in August which means he remains at the club until 2033.

“I’m delighted to sign this new deal. I achieved a lot in my first season here and hopefully I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and in terms of bringing success and trophies to Chelsea.” Palmer said after signing the new deal which extends his stay at Stamford Bridge, according to Chelsea’s official website.
